History

Hazel Hurst was founded in 1934 by the late Miss Gwen Noble, a remarkable lady who devoted her life to the welfare and education of young children. Miss Noble established the school at her home in Westdale Lane, where the school still stands today. Miss Noble's name and good work is commemorated each November on Founder's Day when children take part in fun and educational sponsored events. All monies raised are generally forwarded to children's charities.

In 1970, Mrs Pat Murray became a teacher at the school and in 1982 she became the school's owner. Under her leadership, Hazel Hurst continued to flourish, enhancing the school's reputation for providing all its pupils with a sound start in life.

The school is now privately owned by Mrs Rosie Eadie who also assumes the role of Headteacher. Mrs Eadie has been connected with the school as a teacher since 2001.
