Snow!
Hazel Hurst makes every effort to keep the school open during bad weather. However, if the need arises to not open the school due to heavy snow falls, we shall contact BBC Radio Nottingham and Radio Trent Snowline to inform them of the closure. Parents are encouraged to listen to the bulletins on the radio and only telephone the school in emergencies.
Should the school feel it necessary to close the school early during the day due to bad weather, we shall telephone individual parents and ask them to arrange collection of their children as soon as possible. Should parents wish to collect their children early from school in any circumstance, they should telephone beforehand so that staff are aware.
Introduction
Hazel Hurst School is a small school for boys and girls aged between 2 and 8 years situated on Westdale Lane Mapperley which is a residential area with ample street parking around the school. We are sited just off the B684 Woodborough Road - one of the main routes in and out of Nottingham City Centre - with a regular bus route on the doorstep.
The school was established in 1934 and still provides individual teaching in small classes with a happy, supportive and caring family atmosphere. We have brightly decorated, well-equipped, spacious classrooms with a large, secure outside play area providing stimulating activities to extend children's learning while allowing them to have lots of fun.
We emphasise building your child's sense of security and behavioural skills. We find that it is from these solid foundations that children learn and flourish. Whilst helping your child to learn and have fun our aims are also to help all our children to
